The Eastern Suburbs is a metropolitan region in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The name of this area is neither legal nor administrative. It is a customary concept that represents the area of the east and south-east of the Sydney central business district. 

The Eastern Suburbs area is home to the suburbs within the local government areas such as the Municipality of Woollahra, Waverley Council, City of Randwick, and parts of the Bayside Council, as well as the City of Sidney. The area also includes the entire eastern seaboard of Sydney between Sydney Harbour and Port Botany.  

Some of the most well-known neighbourhoods in the area are Potts Point, Rose Bay, Parsley Bay, Point Piper, Vaucluse, Watson Bay, and Darling Point.

Eastern Suburbs Attractions 

There are plenty of attractions to visit and things to do in the Eastern Suburbs. 

The area is filled with beaches, so here you can do all the typical beach activities from swimming to sunbathing, surfing, and taking long walks on the beach. 

But Eastern Suburbs have more to offer besides the typical beach experiences. Here, you can visit the Centennial Park or the Nielsen Park, to climb on the Edgecliff for some breath-taking views, and shop at the markets and shops in Double Bay and Paddington’s Oxford Street. The Bondi Markets on Sundays are also a must-visit as they are very popular for gifts, flowers, and delicious food. 

If you want to try some delicious seafood, you need to visit Watson Bay as the area is the country’s oldest fishing village. 

If you want to enjoy a coffee on a relaxing day out, you can go on Campbell Parade as the promenade is filled with numerous cafes and restaurants. Plus, all these venues offer great beach views to enjoy while eating or drinking. 

Transportation in Eastern Suburbs, Sydney 

Public transportation in the Eastern Suburbs is great and easy to use. There are plenty of buses that will take you all around the area. Buses to Coogee run from Central Railway and Circular Quay, and they come every 10 minutes or less. So, you don’t have to wait for too long. As for the Bronte buses, these are a little less frequently, but you will definitely find a bus in the area. 

There are also busses and even a train to Bondi Junction if you have to get there. From Bondi Junction, you can hop on buses to all other eastern suburbs destinations. The Eastern Suburbs in Sydney provides great public transportation options. 

Whether you want to enjoy the Bondi to Coogee walk, learn how to surf or swim at Bondi Beach, the Eastern Suburbs are definitely worth visiting.
